Kahn of the Hill Series 2

While members from the blind gaming community eagerly await the release of Mortal Kombat 1, The Sento Showdown wants to keep their momentum going, turning Kahn of the Hill into Summer 2023’s premium Blind FGC event. An eight-week series, players face off in weekly four-person double elimination brackets, the winner securing their spot in a Top 8 double elimination finale on Aug 12. For the first time ever, the game featured is Mortal Kombat XL, and has no physical prizes but instead a cash prize pot that will be split among the finalists. The event takes place every Saturday at 8:00 CST from June 4 - Jul 29, hosted alternating weeks on Rattlehead’s and YourSins’s Twitch channels. As the release of Mortal Kombat 1 approaches, players will fight for cash and the title of Kahn of the Hill.

The Sento Showdown Season III

In 2022, the third Sento Showdown tournament saw a major shift, as the event was now held exclusively on PlayStation consoles. The Blind FGC competed in Mortal Kombat 11 to earn their shot at winning prizes such as another custom Hitbox controller and a brand-new PlayStation 5 Disk Drive console. This began the team’s sponsorship with Paidia Gaming, as well as the implementation of crowdfunding via Matcherino, adding a prize pot of $500 along side the physical prizes. The finalists included BlurrySito in 3rd Pl., MTLKillerX18 in 2nd Pl., and Captain Earshot in 1st Pl., taking home the PS5.

Kahn of the Hill Series 1

The first official series of Kahn of the Hill was designed with two goals. First, to once again provide the Blind FGC with structured opportunities to practice with opponents of various skill levels, and also to gather data for seeding a balanced and fair tournament bracket for Season III. Held twice a week on Rattlehead’s and YourSins’s Twitch channels, three First-to-Five sets were assigned via random generation, with points obtained by the players; one point for participating, with an additional point for each win. The three players with the most points by the end of the 10-week series would receive a portion of a cash prize with the 1st Pl. earning a custom T-shirt and title of Kahn of the Hill. The finalists included BlindBudda in 3rd Pl., XMJ in 2nd Pl., and MTLKillerX18 in 1st Pl. You can check out the final point standings for Kahn of the Hill below.

The Sento Showdown Season II

The sequel event to The Sento Showdown saw a transformation into a much more organized and official event by and for the Blind FGC. Held in 2021 on Xbox and featuring Mortal Kombat 11, this marked the beginning of the team’s partnership with the ACB Students organization, a larger participant pool, introduction of Sento Showdown merch, and a partnership with Xbox to host the Season II tournament on the official XBox Twitch channel. Prizes included a custom Hitbox controller for 2nd Pl. and a brand-new Xbox Series X for 1st Pl. Finalists included BlurrySito in 3rd Pl., MTLKillerX18 in 2nd PL., and Captain Earshot taking 1st Pl. once again.

Kahn of the Hill Series 0

An unofficial event, the initial Kahn of the Hill idea was proposed as a way for members of the Blind FGC to practice with each other for the coming Season II tournament. The format consisted of exhibition sets between players, either assigned or challenged, and were hosted Thursdays on Rattlehead’s Twitch channel.

The Sento Showdown Season I

In 2020, the first-ever Blind FGC exclusive tournament was played with  Mortal Kombat 11. The tournament was held on Xbox, and featured a one-of-a-kind display of what blind players had to offer when it came to competetive play. The finalists included BlindsightBlue in 3rd Pl., BarrenSun in 2nd Pl., and Captain Earshot in 1st Pl, competing for prizes such as an Xbox One X and a custom Sento Showdown-themed Xbox controller..
